A Week of Cody
Cody's Special Birthday
Okay so it is really late, but I thought I would finally post some pics from Cody's Birthday and Baptism. Of course there are some good pics of the "fats" too.
Cody turned 8 on Monday, June 1st. We celebrated with Pam and Randy the Sunday before. But as tradition in our house he got birthday pancakes on his actual birthday.
For his birthday he got a KG jersey and a set of Golf Clubs from mom and Dad. Grandma and Grandpa on both sides spoiled him with numerous other gifts. In fact, he has enough money saved to buy a rip stick now. (Help me please!!)
THE most special part of his birthday was his baptism. Brett baptized and confirmed Cody on Saturday, June 6th at our building. What a SPECIAL day. It was really great and the spirit was felt there. We loved that Brett's family also came and supported Cody in this endeavor. He could hardly resist hugging every single person afterward.
Thanks Mom, Dad and Laura for coming all the way to Colorado. It just was a great weekend.
One quick story. On the way to the church Cody was in the car with Brett and I. Brett asked if he understood that in an hour or so he would be responsible for all his actions. He asked Cody what he would do if he made a mistake or a wrong choice. Cody responded that he needed to forgive Heavenly Father. We laughed and second guessed our teaching over the last 8 years.

TwinS SleeP
Hate to Jinx it, but the twins slept through the night for the last 2 nights in a row. HELLO!
From 7pm-5am. I am loving it.
Only now am I willing to put pictures up of these two Turkeys.
This is feisty Ben.
Generally dissatisfied with life and the people in control.
I know it looks like he is smiling but he is actually crying.
Ben says "Da, da, da, da, da,da." All day long. Happy or sad. Kai and Cody keep telling him that they are sorry but Dad's not home right now.
Here we have Stoic Dane. He is pretty much like this all the time.
"Are you talking to me?"
Dane says "mmmmmma. mmmmmmaaa." only on occaision. He is most interested in hitting the toys so they make sounds. He is easy to get to smile. (See Below)
See. I told you. He's got a great grin. It makes us laugh.
Wish I had his dimples.
Ben is just always animated. Either kicking his feet or communicating with you in some way or another. He has an opinion about everything.
They are both sitting up, although I trust Dane more than Ben to stay up. Ben is a Great Eater. Ben wants to eat what we are eating at the table. The other night he thought he was getting Bratwurst for dinner and he was pumped.
Well those are the Boys.
Almost 7 months old.....CRAZY!

Brett had these pictures done at Rocky Mountain High School. Some art students used him as their subject. We liked them so much that we hired one of the students to do each of the kids. He is almost done and I will post those pics when we get them. I just love how these look.
This is my favorite one and the artist that did this one will be doing the one of the kids.
Makes Brett look very intelligent!

This is our mom. Correction - our "super mom." If you asked her, she would never say that she did anything super or special. Well, I wanted to tell her and let everyone else tell her how super & special she is to us. So I want to invite everyone to share:

Lesson 1: Pray

Sometimes the only one who understands is our Heavenly Father. I was sometimes irritated that mom would always offer the solution of prayer as the answer. Now I know exactly why she would recommend it. I need it everyday just to survive and I am forever grateful to a mother who believed in prayer and encouraged us not only to pray often, but to pray especially when you didn't feel like praying. That is precisely the time you need it most.
Lesson 2: Get to Work

Look at this motley crew mom had to whip into shape. Just like President Hinckley's Father responded to his complaints about how tough his mission was, with "Forget yourself and get to work," I don't think I ever went a day in my life when I didn't hear the words "You guys need to get to work." There was no way mom was going to accept a half done job, nor a sloppy effort. Plus we often had more memories of working together than anything. Remember cutting down the trees in the backyard or helping Mike with his Eagle project at Cabrillo Monument. Even work seemed fun when we were doing it together. Having a work ethic shaped who I am and what I accomplished in life. You can bet that the words: "You have to work to earn it" are commonplace in our house. Thanks Mom!

Now that I am a mom and I want to pull my hair out at least 5 times a day, I wonder how mom did it. Here is the secret....she was willing to lose herself in us. There was no question whose needs came first. Our needs were always on the forefront. I am sure that we neglected to notice how much she sacrificed for us during most of our young lives. That is why now I want to say thank you to my mom. Thanks for taking care of us. You still put us first and are willing to drop everything to come to our aid. Your children and you grandchildren love you much. You have left a great legacy behind you. Here is the evidence of that statement:
